Item Description
5.5x7.25” hardcover with original dust jacket. 1948 edition published by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. Tarzana, CA. Cover art and matching frontispiece by Frank E. Schoonover. This is the only time Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. reprinted these books. Dust jacket notes other 9 books in Burroughs’ “Barsoom” series, a romanticized adventure series set on Mars. Burroughs, most remembered as the creator of Tarzan, created his “Barsoom” series in 1912 in serial format, this book first seeing print as a novel in 1917. A complete series of novels/novellas were written, ending in 1943. Dust jacket shows tiny traces of wear with a few minute tears/nicks at edges with some dust soiling on back on the Edgar Rice Burroughs biography section. Dust jacket is still Exc. and not clipped. Book Itself has lightest trace of wear but still remains a high grade copy overall and is essentially N. Mint. These Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. printings are scarce, especially with dust jacket and rare in this condition. This and the following 5 books comprise the first 6 titles in this series. See following items #239-243.
