Item Description
Lot of 3 thin illustration boards w/original charcoal art for c. 1960 JFK cartoons by "Nashville Banner" cartoonist Jack Knox. Each is about 11.75x15". First is titled "Some Say He'll Stumble" and depicts Democratic donkey w/JFK's features and "Kennedy Campaign" blanket stumbling down hillside w/"Protestant Vote, Coal Miners' Vote, Back Country Vote" boulders tripping him up. Sign in foreground reads "West Virginia Dem. Preference Primary Trail." Second cartoon is titled "Now! Lie Down And Roll Over!" and depicts a diminutive JFK w/bull whip gesturing to large "Dem. Party" donkey in circus ring. Last cartoon is titled "Bills-Bills-Bills-Bills" and depicts JFK peering over "Bills" relating to his 1960 campaign promises. One bill reads "Please Remit On Your 1960 Promises - NAACP" and another reads "Your Acc't For Votes Delivered In 1960 Is Long Overdue - Please - AFL-CIO." 1962 calendar is on wall behind him. Democratic donkey looks over his shoulder w/"?" thought balloon. Scattered lt. handling wear/aging but overall still display Exc.
