Item Description
8.5x20.5x4.25" deep w/porcelain case. 1920s. These Pulver machines came in a variety of colors/styles and w/different figures attached on the inside. There were 3 varieties of figures for The Yellow Kid. This machine features 7" tall tin litho Yellow Kid, other varieties were figures of him in composition and metal w/cloth outfit. Text on front of machine includes "Pulver Chewing Gum/One Cent Delivers A Tasty Chew" while sides are version w/advertising that includes "Pulver One Cent" w/"Too Choos Gum" on left side and "Joy Mint Gum" on right side. Front of machine has opening w/wire grill intact although glass cover that lays over this is missing but easily replaceable. Interior is complete and mechanism works, causing Yellow Kid figure to move back and forth when gum is dispensed. Comes w/replacement key for this windup mechanism. Entire interior has obvious aging with oxidation and traces of surface rust including body of Yellow Kid. Yellow Kid remains VG. Metal grill has scattered oxidation. Porcelain case has just small trace of wear, some minor edge color chips and a few scratches but bright, clean appearance w/high gloss finish. Case remains VF. Comes w/pair of keys to lock the machine. A great piece for both advertising and Yellow Kid collectors.
