Item Description
On the pink issued ring there is a contact wire next to the brass loop meant to hold a battery and the opposite end of the wire is soldered to the end of a light bulb underneath the Howdy Doody head covering. This example no longer lights. Most red paint is off Howdy's hair and most blue paint is gone from his eyes but small traces of each color remain. The plastic head was permanently fixed by two small pins to the brass base but these pins shrank a little with time and the head became loose so a pair of clear glue dots were added to the underside to keep it in place. Brass surfaces have lost their luster but are a clean golden color. Overall a fine example and one of the few we've actually seen sent out as a premium complete with the battery contact wire. With this comes a prototype from the maker. Brownie Mfg. Co. There is no contact wire or light bulb. The large brass base is otherwise complete and with Mint as made luster. The high relief ring top of Howdy's face is in clear plastic rather than the pink plastic eventually produced to send out. Two plastic pegs on the underside of the face fit into two holes on the top of the ring base so ring displays as complete except for contact wire and generic battery. Rare and Mint as made.
