Poster advertises “Sophisticated Swing – Les Elgart His Trumpet And His Orchestra – Columbia Records.” Elgart was an American swing bandleader and trumpeter, playing in bands led by Raymond Scott, Charlie Spivak and Harry James, occasionally playing with his brother. In the 1950s, the Elgart brothers reunited and released albums through Columbia Records, their best known song being “Bandstand Boogie,” used as the theme song for Dick Clark’s American Bandstand.
