Auction #199 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 972 in auction 199
Item Description
Pair of c. 1920s linen-mounted posters promoting renowned psychologist and performance artist Newmann the Great. First poster measures 20-3/8x28” and features French text which reads “Fantastic Evenings” and features a shadowy profile portrait of Newmann with red winged devil whispering in his ear. “Standard St. Paul” text at bottom right corner. Poster was originally folded but as linen-mounted, displays Exc. Second poster measures 20.25x28” and features French text which reads “Mystical Meeting” which shadow a portrait of Newmann in black with red-winged devil whispering in his ear. Poster was originally folded and has some handling wear with professional touch-ups to black areas. These touch-ups are only really noticeable in reflected light or upon close inspection. As is, poster displays VF/Exc. Given the French text and Newmann’s proliferation in Minnesota, these posters were likely for Canadian engagements. Great images.
