Item Description
12.75x14.75” stiff artboard has pen, ink and charcoal original art by Washington Post cartoonist Masterson. Art is dated 1939 and shows Uncle Sam behind bar with bottles labeled “Bourbon TNT, Old Machine Gun, Nitro Glycerin, Absinthe, Airplane Rye, Guncotton Gin, Submarine Brandy” stating “Nothing Doing – You’ve Had Too Much Allready” to drunk “Europe” staggering at bar. Additional notation above artist’s signature reads “Hoping Our Acquaintance Will Not Always Be Long Distance.” Deals with amount of US support and supplies being shipped to Europe prior to US involvement in World War II. Scattered aging/handling wear at margins. If framed, would display Exc.
