Lot of eight 11x14” lobby cards for the 1928 silent Universal serial that starred Frank Merrill and Natalie Kingston. Title card has nice jungle action scene illustration with inset photo of Kingston as Mary Trevor. Remaining 7 all feature same illustration border design of Tarzan atop elephant with apes and natives along bottom with different inset greentone photo scenes from various chapters of film. Cards include Chapter 3 “Call of the Jungle,” Chapter 4 “The Lion’s Leap,” Chapter 5 “Flames Of Hate,” Chapter 7 “The Leopards’ Lair,” 2 cards for Chapter 8 “The Jungle Trader” and Chapter 11 “A Thief In The Night.” Of these cards, Merrill is depicted as Tarzan on 3, one showing him being attacked by man in ape suit. Each is lightly tanned with age and shows scattered trace of dust soiling, a few having a bit more noticeable trace of soiling along top margin. Pin holes at upper margin. Card showing Tarzan with ape has .25x.75” sliver missing off upper right corner. Fine overall. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
