Item Description
Hinged 3.75x4.75x.75” thick leather-covered padded case. Velvet interior. Inside lid satin fabric that reads “The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd. 118 Adderley Street Cape Town.” Spring-loaded clasp of leather case does not catch. Satin fabric shows lt. fraying. Still displays Fine. Velvet area holds 2.5x3.25” 9 karat gold card case. Outside of case has stylized initials “MR.” Spring-loaded case with working latch opens to show inscription “From Mollie To Max. 10, Aug. 1918.” Case is curved to fit into owner’s pocket. Hallmarks are found on interior bottom. Weight of case is 2.00520 troy ounces. Approximately $790 in gold value with gold at $1,050 per troy ounce. Worth more than its weight in gold for intrinsic value. Case VF.
