Item Description
5.75x17.5” thin artboard strip with 3 panels of original black marker art done by Kane and submitted for consideration in 1981, Kane hoping to become “The Lone Ranger” daily strip artist. Kane is best known for his comic book work and as the co-creator of the Silver Age Green Lantern as well as The Atom. In 1977, along with writer Ron Goulart, Kane created the newspaper comic strip “Star Hawks.” All 3 panels feature images of Lone Ranger and Tonto on their horses Silver and Scout (Scout only appearing in 2 panels and Silver only fully appearing in 2). Story deals with Tonto asking Lone Ranger questions of his past. Signed by Kane and writer Cary Bates who worked with Russ Heath, noted comic book artist. Strip has lt. handling wear and pinholes at corners. Last panel section has five 1/8” moisture spots and scattered smudging to marker but does not greatly detract from overall appearance which remains Exc. Unique.
