The 1952 issue is Hake #6 in the 4” size (a 3.5” size is also known). The jugate photos are in bluetone with their names below and the slogan is “Vote Straight Democratic.” Extreme top edge at 11 o’clock has extremely shallow dent on a line just .5” long. The red stripe across the button’s center has a couple of tiny white lines on it but these are as printed and most examples of this button have similar marks. Button’s reverse has some tiny cello splits where the cello meets the brass back but all of these lay perfectly flat. Other than the very slight edge dent, the button displays essentially Mint as produced. The item carries a $750 value in Hake’s 2004 Revised Prices. With this button comes another 4” button which is unlisted in Hake. This reads in full “Stevenson And Kefauver/Vote Straight Democratic/General Election 1956.” Surface has a couple of long but very shallow hairline scratches that just show in reflected light. The piece displays essentially Mint with perfect centering. Minor loss of silver luster from its reverse. A scarce pair with very conservative opening bid.
