8x10.75” cover to Feb. 18, 1991 issue of “Sports Illustrated” features 5 members of the very first “Dream Team” Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Cover has been signed by all 5 in blue felt tip pen with Malone adding jersey number “32.” Cover has been removed from magazine and mounted to foam board for display. Issue featured the Dream Team, the first group of professional basketball players to represent the United States in international men’s basketball. International men’s basketball is traditionally composed of amateur players, a rule which was reversed in 1989 that allowed USA Basketball to construct teams of professional players. The first such team was known as the “Dream Team” and they ended up winning the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics. All signatures were obtained in person by noted photographer Ray Amati and comes with letter of authenticity from him which includes the following statement – “I Personally Obtained These Autographs At The End Of The 1991 & Start Of The 1992 NBA Basketball Season During My Capacity As A Madison Square Garden & NBA Photographer.” Cover has a few color rubs but does not affect signatures which remain Exc.
