Item Description
7-5/8x11x4.5” deep die-cut thin cardboard box has art on top of Davy Crockett in action. Contains full complement of toys, each 3.75” tall with 2.5” tall vinyl figure on top of plastic base. Sticker on front with “Davy Crockett – Hero Of The Western Frontier – Scout, Indian Fighter, Congressman – Born In Tenn. 1786 – Fought At The Alamo” text. Davy is depicted firing rifle from back of horse. Underside of each toy has thin wire crank, allowing Davy and his horse to move as if riding when twisted. Centaur Productions, Inc. c. 1950s. Toys display bright and glossy but have problem from manufacturing. A generous circular spot of clear glue holds figure to base on top. Glue is largely confined to top surface of base, 7 have .25” wide streak of glue running to outer base edge where it “puddled” and a .25-.5” spot adhered to the cardboard divider insert. In removing from the insert, a surface layer of cardboard remains adhered to the glue spot. Most spots are to the rear of the pieces so only one label is actually glue-stained and one other has bit of cardboard residue on base edge above label. This 12-piece “army” of Davy Crocketts still displays bright and glossy. Box has some staining to side panels and a .5” tear along front. VF.
