Top edge text is complete and reads “Alone But Not Deserted.” Below is star of “Texas.” Below this are pair of portraits reading “For President James K. Polk/For Vice President George M. Dallas.” Tiny text slogan below Dallas’ name is a quotation from Andrew Jackson, complete except for final word “Jackson.” This quotation reads: “Let Polk, Dallas And Texas Be The Watch Word And Counter Sign And Victory Is Certain. Andrew (Jackson-missing).” Overall condition is VG and ribbon displays nicely. This ribbon in N. Mint would easily exceed $5,000 level. The last example we’ve seen sold (by Heritage) had more stain plus 2 partial horizontal fabric separations and several small edge tears, but still exceeded $2,000. This example opens conservatively.
