Item Description
2.5x3.75”. Two-sided press pass with text “Working Press/Civil Rights Demonstrations/Metropolitan Police Department/District of Columbia/Good Only August 28, 1963.” Graphic on left shows same graphic as “March On Washington” button from this event (see item #439). It was on this date at that event in Washington that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the “I Have A Dream” speech. This speech is considered to be as important in American history as the Gettysburg Address and FDR’s “Day Of Infamy” speeches. Pass is numbered at bottom with newsman’s name typed in. Pass shows minor aging, mostly at top left and reverse. Displays VF. This item was originally issued to Charles D’Onofrio who began his 40-plus year as a CBS-TV cameraman in the 1950s. Twice he was awarded an Emmy for his work. Historic and extremely limited issue. Only example known to us.
