Item Description
Here are 3 pieces for the younger brother of Huey ‘Kingfish’ Long. The “Elect Earl K. Long Governor” button is a slightly faded 7/8” litho. This is scarce, but truly rare is the cardboard, plastic and fabric badge that resulted from his successful 1948 race. This is 5” tall. Plastic holder with bar pin holds slightly tanned but clean insert “Inauguration/Governor Earl K. Long/Baton Rouge, LA/May 11, 1948.” Stapled to reverse is synthetic fabric ribbon inscribed “Official Visitor.” Moderate but light and scattered age stain on the fabric. Last is 2.5x5” stiff cardboard that served as a raffle ticket to promote his 1960 campaign for Congress. He won, but died a week after his victory. The card is unused and lightly tanned on the edges. Idea was for the ticket with serial number to go into drawing box, while purchaser kept the stub with serial number and message “Vote Earl K. Long For Congress.” Lot of 3.
