Auction #200 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1186 in auction 200
Item Description
This exceptionally large piece for the era is 1.5” wide by 2.5” tall. It is listed in DeWitt/Sullivan as Grant 1868-43. The hanger is a displayed eagle with brass bar pin on reverse. A brass loop below suspends an embossed brass ornamental shield with large sepia paper photo of Grant at its center. The only defect on the piece is on the blank reverse of the brass shell where there was once a dot of solder which apparently was smoothed down leaving a slightly shiny .25” spot at the center. The front of the piece is visually essentially Mint with totally clean cardboard photo. Rare.
