Item Description
4x4.75x3.5” tall overall. Bottom is marked with patent date from 1879. Cast iron uprights have elaborate Victorian design. Back/top area designed as pen rest. 2.5” dia. by 2” wide molded glass wells. Each has .75” dia. round sides that fit into the cast base. These are positioned in such a way as to let the well swivel up and down giving access to the ink when desired. When not in use, the well is positioned upward and rests against the 1.5” dia. stop at top of frame. An interesting well-designed product of its day. Natural cast iron frame has original lacquered finish which has aged to a nice patina. 1.5 dia stops show oxidation from exposure to liquid ink but blends well with overall darkened finish. Fine. Glass reservoirs are Exc.
