Item Description
Early 1900s. Each wood section is 8” long. Fan is 15” wide when opened. Ship name appears in gold luster on each of the wood ribs. Bkg. of each is painted lt. blue. Top and bottom paint shows noticeable wear, not affecting center sections. Top 4” of each has rippled oval crepe paper making up the fan. The original metal loop appears at fan hinge. Top and bottom crepe paper shows wear. The Lusitania was launched in 1906 and was sunk by a German submarine in 1915 killing over 1,100 of the 1,1900 passengers onboard. This action brought the United States into World War I. Although showing its age and wear, this historically significant fan displays VG.
