Item Description
Heavy cast aluminum 12” dia. base. 27” tall. c. 1950s. 10.5” dia. glass-covered top with elaborate scales and text for correcting and balancing automobile and aircraft wheels. Text on top includes “Centrifical Force Equalizer/Within Balance Tolerances/Read Slide Rules In Ounces/Turn Dial Until Arrow Points To Optically Ground Indicator.” Gold luster bkg. and graphics text area are textured to give a high-tech look. Text and graphics appear bright and Exc. Top portion fits on a 2-piece bracket with a .75” dia. liquid level bubble in the center. When bubble is in center, item is balanced. All of this rests on a 21” long red painted steel pipe. The bottom of the pipe fits into the cast aluminum base. Text on base reads “B&B/Sioux City, Iowa/Incline Position Instrument” on one side. Other side has raised graphic of propeller and 2 wheels with raised text “Aero-Dynamic.” Base has high gloss gray (almost metallic) finish. An elaborate, well-made instrument for what is basically a tire balancing unit. Complete and working. Exc.
