Item Description
14x22” thin cardboard sign for c. 1960s concert at the Dixie Caverns outside Salem, VA. by New Orleans-based pop group formed in 1961. Unlike the majority of artists that recorded for New Orleans labels controlled by Joe Banashak, The Showmen were not from Crescent City or surrounding areas, originating from Norfolk, VA. Bluetone photo of the group at center surrounded by song titles including their hit “It Will Stand” and beach classic “39-21-40 Shape” though title is misprinted on poster “39-21-46” as the 45-rpm record was mislabeled. Poster has handling and corner tip wear. Mounted to stiff cardboard backing. Upper left corner professionally restored. Appearance is clean and displays VF.
