Item Description
2.5x6x4" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key comes in box w/illustrated lid. 1950s by Yoshiya, Japan. Lt. box wear, plain box bottom has trace of staple rust. Box remains tight and is complete w/cardboard inserts. VF. The whale is depicted w/angry expression, open mouth bearing jagged teeth. For some odd reason, this menacing "Billy" whale is depicted w/polka dot bow on his head. Also has simulated waves around bottom. Coming out of the blow hole is a simulated water spout. Toy works and travels forward as a burst of air comes out of the spout to suspend a styrofoam ball. This ball is missing but could be easily replaced. Toy has some scattered minute paint nicks but as produced. N. Mint as issued.
