Item Description
2” chrome metal case pocket watch by Ingersoll. 1953. Back of case has stamped image of Eagle Comics logo with “Eagle” text below. Dan Dare was Britain’s answer to Buck Rogers, his stories appearing in Eagle Comics. Watch is double-animated with Dan’s hand going up and down and secondary rocketship dial progressing as seconds tick away. Dial features Dan Dare pointing pistol at sea monster in distance. Watch was produced in 2 varieties, one with “Ingersoll” name in black text at top (version offered here), another version with “Dan Dare” text in black at top with no Ingersoll mention. Case has minor surface wear but near full bright luster. Dial surface has st. color fade but running and VF. Great design. Rare. From the Jerry Howell Jr. Collection.
