Box has obvious scattered wear, heavy aging, mostly concentrated to top left area, one side panel has inked text "Space Academy." Box remains tight and complete w/cardboard insert. VG. Has tin litho space building which was once assembled. This includes signal unit w/mounting bracket, front gate w/doors and nine wall sections. Marx produced both Tom Corbett and Space Patrol playsets and both types of figures were used in both sets. The figures included w/this are 21 from Tom Corbett series in gray in a total of 17 poses, 12 Space Patrol series figures in orange in 12 different poses, 21 generic spaceman series figures in 18 poses, 10 generic spaceman figures in yellow in nine different poses. There are also 19 plastic helmets. Great assortment of figures which includes a number of aliens and robots. The hard plastic field accessories in silver include observatory dome, searchlight on pedestal base, radar antenna unit, fuel tank unit, siren tower, supply cabinet, gravity chamber, disk antenna on stand, laser device on stand, telescope on stand, camera on stand. The lt. blue hard plastic academy furniture consists of teacher's desk w/chair, three-legged easel, ladder on base, four benches, two student desks, file cabinet, rocket control console, rocket control chair. The hard plastic operating accessories are saucer launcher w/two disks, three barrel pom pom gun w/spring-loaded firing mechanism, vertical rocket launcher platform w/three two-piece rockets. Set comes w/complete spure containing 10 shells for the pom pom gun as well as the small original instruction sheet for this gun although this has a bit of insect damage. The original plain brown paper bags are included although worn w/numerous tears. There is no instruction sheet. Also certain versions of this playset came w/space car but this set does not have one. The building has scattered trace of wear as once assembled o/w contents show very lt. wear. Overall VF to Exc. A very nicely designed and detailed Marx playset.
