Auction #200 - Part II
Item numbers 1187 through 2776 in auction 200
Item Description
20.5” tall stuffed felt doll with oilskin sailor cap and felt pipe. c. 1930s by unknown maker. Great detail with knobby elbows and knees and printed anchor tattoos on Popeye’s forearms. Plastic buttons and tailored sailor collar. Unusual felt pipe as most Popeye dolls of the 1930s used wooden or actual pipes. Oilcloth cap has lost about 25% of its original covering and has hardened with age. Neck appears loose but use of doll stand would negate this. Rest of doll remains clean and bright. Displays Fine/VF.
