Item Description
These 3 buttons were produced for demonstrations during the dark days of economic depression in the 1930s. 1932 saw various hunger marches, in fact in Detroit that year police opened fire killing 4 demonstrators. The 7/8” button here reads “National Hunger March 1932” and shows the U.S. Capitol. This button was issued for a march from NYC to DC. Exc. with backpaper by Pudlin. The second button here is likely from the same march. This is a 13/16” litho issued by the Communist group Worker’s International Relief sponsored by the Communist International, and intended to provide support for labor strikers. This reads "Support/The Natural Hunger March/W.I.R." Exceedingly tiny traces of wear on close inspection but still extremely bright and glossy. Third is a 1” oval litho reading “Parade Feb. 19th/Put America Back To Work/Jobs-WPA-Relief.” We believe this one is c. 1936-1938. Two tiny dots of paint off the bottom curl but still glossy and VF.
