Item Description
4x6" large format w/16 pages. Mid-1930s. This format has just text and border on front cover. Inside front cover has printed introduction w/picture of Mae West and Popeye. Story has Mae in desperate need of a man and her stereotypical Black maid suggests she goes down to restaurant on waterfront and find Popeye. She gets involved w/Wimpy, then Popeye shows up and she gets involved w/him and wears him out. He goes downstairs and eats a huge bowl of spinach and goes back up and gets involved w/her, wearing her out. Story is told in comic strip-style format w/word balloons and additional humorous text at bottom of each page. Top and bottom as well as spine margins on front and back covers have lt. aging but book is Exc.
