5-1/8x7.5” purple hardcover printed by E.P. Dutton & Co. ©1929, this is first edition featuring bw illustrations by Willy Pogany, whose totally different interpretation of Alice slightly modernized the character, giving her a flapper look. Book features many illustrations throughout book. Pogany is noted for his fresh takes on other classics like “Rime Of The Ancient Mariner” and “The Rubiayat Of Omar Khayyam.” Gilt-stamped cover shows Alice looking through gate with White Rabbit. Spine has heavy aging and cover shows wear. VG/Fine. Pages remain clean and Exc. overall. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
