Multi Products, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois famous for their wood composition items, primarily the character figures they produced in the 1940s. This lot comprises a complete set of the 24 different KFS characters they produced, each with 1944 KFS copyright on back edge of base. Front of each base has that character’s name. Figures range in sizes of 2.75” to 5” tall, all with nicely painted outfits and/or features. Condition noted for each but most are Exc. meaning little to no wear and if any defects are present they are noticeable only upon close inspection. Alexander-Exc.; Annie Rooney-Exc.; Archie (in uniform)-N. Mint; Barney Google (in Navy uniform)-Small scattered trace of wear, VF; Blondie (red dress variety)-Exc.; The Captain-Exc.; Casper-Exc.; Cookie (red dress variety)-N. Mint; Dagwood (brown pants variety)-N. Mint; Flash Gordon-Exc.; Fritz-N. Mint; Hans-N. Mint; Jiggs-has tiny flake on front hat brim, o/w Exc.; Little King-Lt. scattered wear, VF; Maggie-few tiny base nicks but Exc.; Rosie (among the rarest of the set) has sscattered paint wear in the form of small flakes mainly to front of dress as well as pinpoint dots over body. Stands but does lean forward, however no breaks. VG/Fine; Olive Oil (name spelled incorrectly as Oil)-Exc.; Phantom (purple costume variety)-has a pair of ankle repairs but very neatly done and only noticeable upon close inspection. Appearance for display remains Exc.; Popeye-has small flake on pipe, o/w Exc.; Prince Valiant-Exc.; Tillie (in uniform)-tiny flake on back edge of base but still Exc. (this scarce figure is another of those typically found with ankle repairs but not the case on this one); Tim Tyler (in Navy uniform)-Exc.; Toots-has noticeable ankle repair, Fine; Wimpy-Exc. One standard illustrated box was made for these figures and the character it contained had that name stamped on one end panel. Box features 14 character images on 3 sides which include Popeye, Prince Valiant and Phantom. Missing inner end flap from left side of box but outer flap intact with ink stamped name “Popeye.” Other lt. edge wear but box remains tight. Fine. A rare and extraordinary opportunity to obtain the complete set (mostly in high grade) all at one time. This is the only complete set we have ever offered in our 44 years. A truly classic comic character item.
