Item Description
8” long tin litho toy with built-in key ©1930 Correll & Gosden. Toy comes in very nicely designed box illustrated on all sides. Both end flaps are intact. Two of the 4 inner flaps are here (one loose) and these have cut-out accessory pieces of coat rack and stove. Moderate scattered box wear/aging with some creases to side panels. Small 1/8” hole on back panel. Box still retains nice shape and displays VG. The toy is complete with horseshoe hood ornament, crank and windshield. Features figures of Amos, Andy and their dog. Car’s body has related text including “Fresh Air Taxi Cab Company Of America Inc./Check And Double Check,” etc. Car has simulated wear and tear such as dents and dings, patched tires plus mud splotches on fenders and running boards. Toy works and car travels forward before coming to a stop. It then shakes as the figures bounce up and down, toy then resumes its forward motion. Small scattered traces of paint wear mostly to extreme edges but remains totally bright and glossy, about as nice as these come. Exc. A Marx classic.
