Item Description
We offered this same style item in Auction #199 but it had totally different content. This is the second of just 2 that we have to offer. 12.5” long unopened mesh stocking contains an interesting assortment of items. 1930s. Visible through the mesh on one side are two Popeye cards from the Big Little Book series of strip cards. Two card strip intact and features #83 and #84 (the latter prominently featuring Popeye). St. warp as packaged but appearance remains N. Mint/Mint. Visible on the opposite side is one of the Popeye comic folders issued by Orbit Gum Co. This is #11 from the set of 30 and features Wimpy on the cover. Title is “How To Draw.” Has tiny corner tip chip as packaged. Exc. Other items include “Mother Goose” cardboard box featuring Little Miss Muffet and Curly Locks, 2 tin sand molds, miscellaneous paper items. The set we offered last auction featured 2 Dick Tracy cards and a different Popeye folder and it sold for $424. Overall displays Mint as never opened. A very interesting item for the gum card collector.
