Item Description
Gum, inc. released the classic Lone Ranger gum card set in 1940 but 2 years prior to this, after obtaining the license to The Lone Ranger, they produced Lone Ranger bubblegum which was sold for 1¢ from display boxes. They also included a sample of 5 pieces of Lone Ranger gum in boxes of Horrors of War cards to promote the product. This is detailed on a Gum, Inc. advertising flier (which is pictured in the Sport Americana Price Guide To The Non-Sports Cards 1930-1960). The display box is also shown but this rare insert card is not pictured or mentioned. The display box features large image on lid of Lone Ranger on rearing Silver, this 7.5x8"  insert card features totally different art of Lone Ranger on Silver along with inset image of Tonto. Text on top portion of card reads “Lone Ranger Bubblegum/Heigh-Yo Silver/Heap Big Chew.” 1¢ price is noted inside an arrowhead design. Has scored line on bottom third for box insertion with ink-stamped message reading “The Purchaser Of The Last Piece Of Lone Ranger Bubblegum Is To Receive This Beautiful Fly Card. Display It So That They May See It.” Tiny trace of corner tip wear. Totally bright, clean and Exc. A true rarity and the first we’ve seen in our 44 years.
