Item Description
Last auction we offered a variation of this album with 16 of the 32 labels and different issuer of “Fisher Baking Co.” All artwork and labels are essentially the same as that album with the one exception being the difference of the 3-D viewer. That album came with a red thin transparent plastic sheet called a “Magic Viewer” and is shown as such on the instruction panel. This has that panel altered and shows boy wearing glasses which match what comes with this album, a 5.25” long die-cut cardboard pair of glasses with red lenses and “3-D Picturama Magic Glasses” logo at center. Whereas the album we offered last auction had just 16 labels, this is complete – all 32 labels neatly mounted at appropriate spots. 1950s with imprint of “Bond Bread.” Front cover features image of lion leaping forward. Opens to 32” in length with 4 inside panels that include additional illustrations around the mounted labels featuring related themes such as jungle animals, pirates and Eskimos. Labels feature images including Captain Kidd, Buffalo Bill, Jungle Explorer/King Cobra, Jet Plane, Jolly Roger, Jesse James, Caveman/Saber-toothed Tiger, Admiral Peary, Daniel Boone, Custer, Lindbergh, others. Of note to sports collectors are labels featuring Sullivan vs. Corbett and Babe Ruth. Each label includes block of related text asking a question with image revealed by placing “Magic Viewer” sheet over the label. This includes “Who Was The Greatest Home Run Hitter Of All Time/Babe Ruth.” Back panel of album has additional question/images revealed by the glasses. Glasses have scattered aging, few tiny creases but lenses remain firmly intact. Fine. Album has moderate scattered wear/aging, mostly along folds/edges. This includes 1” tear on one fold line. Fine. Labels show very little wear and are overall Exc. to N. Mint as mounted. An exceptional bread label album and rare as complete.
