Item Description
2.5x8x7” tall toy with built-in key. Japan, 1930s. Celluloid figures of Mickey riding an over-sized Pluto which is attached to tin unit with wind-up mechanism as well as the painted wood rocker base. Mickey is depicted in cowboy attire and holds string reins but is missing a separate paper cowboy hat. Toy works and rocks back and forth. Moderate, all over dust soiling. Scattered traces of visible glue staining but as produced including at seam of Pluto’s head/neck. Left side of Pluto’s head has a minor .25” hairline at ear only noticeable when viewed closely. Couple of tiny indents. Overall still Fine. Rare. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
