Item Description
This scarce ring was issued by Wheaties in 1940 and titled the “Jack Armstrong Dragon’s Eye Ring.” Also see the Buck Rogers version of this ring as item #1415. The plastic bands are designed as crocodiles with open jaws. Ring top has a raised very dark green simulated emerald-colored stone. When glowing in the dark, this plastic stone becomes the “Dragon’s Eye” as it does not glow while the surrounding areas do glow. Where the cream color of the ring base meets the bottom edge of the green stone, there is a little line of green coloration in the cream-colored plastic. Also on extremely close inspection there is a shallow hairline split running vertically down the center of the stone although this does not go very deep at all and unless the ring is studied carefully, is not at all apparent. Ring displays VF and glows much more brightly in the dark than many examples we’ve seen.
