Item Description
Professionally framed and matted with overall size of 22.5x28” and mat opening of 11x16.5”. Ornate gold wood frame. Originally obtained at the Sotheby’s Art of Who Framed Roger Rabbit auction held June 28, 1989. It has been in a private collection since that time and we are pleased to be able to offer it now to the animation art collecting community. At lower right of mat is 3” dia. embossed white seal featuring Roger Rabbit portrait and noting the Sotheby’s sale title and date. Has corresponding Sotheby’s stickers at lower left corner, this was lot #355. Scene as described in the Sotheby’s catalogue is “Eddie Valiant Destroys Judge Doom In His Own Dip And The Toons Gather Around And Marvel At His Remains And Wonder Who He Really Was.” Great multi-character cel, 10 characters are shown in all including Disney characters of the Big Bad Wolf, Snow White. Brer Bear and penguin waiter from Mary Poppins. Characters from other studios include Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Sylvester and his rival Hector the Bulldog, 2 others. Comes with photographic print bkg. Superb image, all characters are shown in expressive poses. Mint as framed and ready for display. This piece sold at the Sotheby’s sale for $6,000.
