9.25x16.5x2” deep box contains English set from 1940 by the British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd. Lid features large image of Mickey as Sorcerer’s Apprentice, additional character images and the light set itself appear on lid and side panels. Same lid art also appears on the large flip-up insert card. Lid shows wear with 3 corner splits and additional 5” tear along bottom right edge. Some surface paper rubs/flakes along edges. VG. Insert has scattered edge wear and bit of inking to “Mazda” name. Fine. Set consists of 12 hard plastic bulb shades with wrap-around decals, complete with original wiring and European-type plug. There are 8 decals featuring Fantasia characters (6 different and 2 duplicate designs) which include centaurs, centaurettes, mushrooms, fairies, sprites and satyrs, Bacchus, Jacchus, etc. One also features images from the “Insect Ballet” segment that never made it into the film (see Nutcracker Suite book with related art, item #2035). The non-Fantasia Disney decals for which there are 4 include 2 different for the Three Pigs, Mickey Mouse, Tortoise and Hare. One shade has notable cracks. Mickey shade has notable decal flakes. All others have just typical general wear with some tiny traces of flaking to decals but remain largely complete. Set overall Fine to VF. One of the scarcer Mazda sets and first we’ve offered in many years.
