Item Description
2.5x3.5”. Hand-colored and also reads “American Manufacture/Jazh. Ford.” Ford was the first U.S.-born manufacturer of playing cards and this was printed in 1825 in his Milton, Mass. factory. LaFayette toured America around this time in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the American Revolution. The card bears a spade printed over an American flag and cannon barrel accented by laurel and oak leaves. Very st. edge tanning. Exc. See portrait buttons #819-820.
