Item Description
3.5x7” card by Universal Photo Art Co. is titled “Pres. Roosevelt’s Log Cabin North Dakota Exhibit Agricultural Building Louisiana Purchase Exposition.” ©1904 by C.H. Graves. We believe the 1.25” button which shows the cabin and reads “The Roosevelt Cabin/North Dakota” (Hake #193) was issued to promote this Exposition exhibit and was likely a giveaway at the Fair. Fascinating scene includes “The Roosevelt Cabin.” Pair of signs on the structure, deer on the roof, a chimney of corn cobs, many large glass bottle displays of grain products and 11 people. TR used this cabin from 1883-87 on his Maltese Cross Ranch and then built a larger one at his Elkhorn Ranch. The smaller cabin traveled some 5,000 miles for exhibitions which included Lewis & Clark Expo in 1905 in Oregon. Is now in Medora, North Dakota at the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Scarce view.
