Item Description
Original Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, NJ presidential pin-back button catalogue from 1908. The 5.5x10.25” catalogue is titled “1908 National Campaign Button Catalogue Of Exclusive Designs.” This is the only example we’ve seen of this rare and wonderful catalogue in full color. The catalogue is 8 pages long (7 numbered pages plus the cover page). The catalogue has some overall lt. age soiling, some small tears and tiny chips, numerous but small creases and front and back pages are separated at the spine. The center pages are still connected. Catalogue shows 75 different button designs and the prices charged for various quantities of the presidential campaign pinback buttons. For example, the 1.25” size costs from $1.00 for 12 to $7.50 per thousand of 100,000 of a single design. The candidates shown on the buttons are Bryan and Kern-Taft and Sherman. All of the pages list the prices for the buttons at the bottom of the page. Of the 75 designs, 22 jugates are shown in 11 closely matched designs. A great rarity in overall VG condition.
