Item Description
Here is certainly one of our most unusual items ever. It is a wood-like large fungus off a forest tree with hand-painted design, signed on reverse with name of the maker “A.W. Paul.” An oval wooden base 3.25” deep by 10” long by 1.25” tall displays large fungus 6” tall by 9” long by 2.5” thick. The front surface is wavy but smooth while the reverse is in graduated growth rings. A wooden peg holds the fungus to the base. Lettering on the art includes apparent camp name and number “Edgemere/94” and location “Pike Co. Pa.” Letters on the green and blue rays spell out “VETS CAMP” but red colors “S,” “A,” and “P” are very faint. At center is V-shaped logo of pine tree with lettering “US/CCC.” Very well executed and in Fine condition. A remarkable artifact of this famous New Deal depression era program instituted April 5, 1933 by FDR. Unique.
