Item Description
15x23” original frame with glass holds print marked “Copyright 1916 By E.L. Crandall.” Huge facsimile signature below and image of U.S. Capitol. Inscribed and signed in ink “To My Friend Leroy T. Vernon/With My Compliments And Best Wishes/For A Merry Xmas And A Happy New Year/Dec. 20, 1919 J. G. Cannon.” White margins have many pinpoint tan dots plus some hairlines of tan stain, mostly at bottom. Image and signature areas are clean. Minor wear on backing paper. Comes with pair of 5x7” photos, one with him at outdoor picnic group center and one with another man we believe to be Leroy T. Vernon who was the recipient of this and a campaign manager for Taft and later Washington, D.C. reporter for the Chicago Daily News. Comes with Hake’s COA.
