Item Description
11x17” bw glossy paper poster urging “Steal This Poster!” the title for May 13, 1982 lecture by him sponsored by New York University. He is pictured prominently in large photo. His multiple claims to fame include involvement with the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, mass demonstration organizer to use psychic energy to levitate the Pentagon, defendant in the 1968 trial of the Chicago Eight (then it was 7), co-founder of the Yippies (Youth International Party) with Jerry Rubin, Paul Krassner plus several others, Woodstock interruption of The Who’s performance to protest John Sinclair’s imprisonment for 10 years for 2 joints and his 1971 book titled “Steal This Book” advising readers how to live basically for free, and in 1987 a cameo in Oliver Stone’s anti-Vietnam war movie “Born On The Fourth Of July” in which he essentially played himself in a campus protest. He committed suicide in 1989, 8 months prior to the movie’s release and while at the height of renewed public notoriety. Mint. From the Marshall Levin Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA.
