Item Description
11x17” stiff cardboard designed by “Mortimer,” featuring 3 Robert Kennedy images plus psychedelic lettering including “SRO” which stands for “Standing Room Only.” Event was May 24, 1968, just 4 days before the shock of losing the May 28 Oregon primary to Eugene McCarthy that set the stage for the crucial CA primary on June 4. The latter was won by RFK but ended in tragedy on June 5 when he was fatally shot exiting the hotel after his victory speech. Concert was held at “LA Sports Arena” and offers “Special Student Tickets” available on campuses for “Students For Kennedy” or at “Kennedy For President” headquarters on Wilshire Blvd. Concert featured The Byrds, Sonny & Cher, Mahalia Jackson, Roosevelt Grier and others. Shirley MacLaine, Gene Kelly and Jerry Lewis also made appearances. N. Mint.
