Item Description
2.5x3x6.5" tall diecut tin litho toy w/spring plunger mechanism on back. Early 1930s German version for which a similar toy was produced by Nifty Toys. There are two main differences between the two toys. This version depicts Mickey w/teeth whereas the Nifty version shows him w/open mouth and tongue. Front of this drum features name in different style lettering and includes one of Mickey's shoes as part of first and last letter as if the text is running and has portrait image of him between the two words. On the Nifty toy front of drum just has his name w/drum design accents plus Nifty logo on drum head whereas this drum head is without markings. Toy works but mechanism tends to slip a bit. The separate drum head rapidly moves up and down as a drumming noise is produced and in turn causes Mickey's arms to move as if he is drumming. Toy has overall moderately aged w/some darkening and aging of the paint. Color remains strong and toy still has a somewhat glossy appearance. VG.
