Item Description
1” stickpin holds 1-3/8” tall die-cut celluloid. Where pin goes through celluloid at top, there are a pair of minute 1/32” splits but the celluloid piece which holds the pin has not been broken through to its edge and the splits barely show. First time we’ve seen this item which was issued in 1936 for Frederick M. Alger, Jr. of the 14th District of Michigan. He was the grandson of Russell Alger, Secretary of War during the Spanish American War. Frederick’s son David Dewey Alger died in the attack on the World Trade Center. Other items of interest to locals collectors are Governor button group #187, Senator and other offices button group #188, Mayor Cermak button #364 and other items #99-101, and Ohio item for Bricker issued in association with NWYF World’s Fair #812.
