Item Description
1.5” with black power arm and fist symbol surrounded by text “Hudson Valley Freedom Theater/We Are All One 914-565-6640." Button center has a little thinness to the purple color with just a little pinkish shading but this is as made and the button is Mint. The button was issued for the named group (HVFT) which was a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation in the Newburgh, NY area. The group was organized in 1972 but this button is likely c. 1981 when they brought a lawsuit against the Orange County Employment & Training Administration for various issues involving alleged racial discrimination. William Kunstler was one of the lawyers representing the HVFT in its lawsuit which was heard by the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, argued Oct. 29, 1981.
