c. 1905. 13.75x21.75” mat has 9-7/8x17.5” opening revealing well-drawn cartoon by creator Carl E. Schultze. Smiling Grandpa is standing in yard being hosed on by one boy while other boy says “Grandpa We Have A Little Surprise For You!” Holding picture to light reveals laughing bunny in other window with Grandpa holding umbrella and laughing saying “Ha. Ha. Dick And Harry Seem All Wet!” as both boys get soaked. Lower left has caption “Well Boys – Any Other Little Surprises?” Mat has a few color rubs, both sides of image are covered in acetate which has been stapled in place around sides. Reverse side of mat has strips of masking tape on 3 sides not affecting picture. A few lt. handling pieces, o/w bright color and near Exc. appearance. Proper framing would greatly enhance picture. First we’ve seen in 44+ years.
