Item Description
1920s. Most likely German. 5-7/8” tall smiling full figure with hands in pockets comes apart in center revealing hollow insides holding 12 miniature wooden comic strip character figures. Includes Happy Hooligan, Si, Maude The Mule, Felix The Cat, Jiggs, Hans, Fritz and 5 others including baby in seated position, possibly from The Newlyweds. Container has trace of lt. dust soiling and aging here and there. Front and back sides each have small piece of missing surface wood. Fine. Felix figure is missing right foot. Figures have trace of lt. dust soil but overall near Exc. appearance. Nicely hand-painted. Bright color and wonderful designs.
