Item Description
c. late 1890s. Ingraham. 4.75x15x23” tall overall pressed oak wood case in original finish. Top has 3-5/8” relief image of Dewey’s head in plaster composition. Low relief intricate designs on wood include crossed American flags atop cannonball stack, American flag waving above cannon and cannonballs and anchors and stars around 3 sides of base. 17.5x14” door in center has glass window with silkscreened reverse painted image with Battleship Maine in center and 4 American flags near bottom just above swords and anchor design. Clock face has printed paper dial over tin with brass accent rim. Gold finish cast metal pendulum is ornately detailed with eagle and stars in center and cannon accents at bottom. Wood has lt. aging here and there with st. bit of discoloration, Dewey’s relief head has scattered faded color. Dial has trace of lt. aging. Clock is Fine overall. Both chime and time shafts can be wound with vintage key supplied and both functions work. Incredible design and detail. Wonderful display item.
